Tennis ace Nicolas Massu gives masterclass to newcomers
Chilean tennis ace Nicolas Massu treated players of all ages and proficiencies to a tennis clinic last weekend at the Hacienda Santa Martina in Santiago. The tennis
star ranked in the top 10 of the ATP tennis tour until only recently.
When the elite player was asked why he is teaching tennis to newcomers, Massu said: “At this stage of my career, and with many
injuries affecting me, I want to pass on my experience. I want to encourage kids to be the best they can be at whatever interests them, it doesn’t have to be tennis”.
Massu is currently in training after a tough year and aims to recover his spot in the ATP ranking list: “Right now I am focused
on being at a competitive level physically and mentally. My goal for 2011 is to return to the circuit”.
Recently, rumors had surfaced that the famous player wants to name an entire arena after him. But this, he assures, is only one of his many ideas for when he
retires: “I will start thinking about that in 3 or 4 years. Tennis has given me so much that I want to give something back. For example by giving more
clinics like this one. I can also imagine becoming a pro coach, Davis Cup captain or doing anything else tennis related”.
